Relay for Life raises nearly $30,000 for
American Cancer Society efforts
The 2006 Relay for Life event raised nearly $30,000 to aid
the American Cancer Society's research and support programs. The quiltathon, sponsored by the Country Patchwork Quilt Guild,
raised $770 selling quilt blocks, though not enough blocks were sold to finish
any one of the four quilts the group started building. Work on the quilts will
continue. "We will keep plugging
along. We will get them finished one way or another." The money raised by the quiltathon
during the Relay for Life will go to the American Cancer Society, but money

A $10 donation will allow someone
to personalize a block to honor or memoralize someone. A quotation or other message may also be put
on the block. There are four color
schemes to choose from; “vintage – multicolor, “rural”
– green/tan/brown; “breast cancer” – pink, “jewel
tone” – lavender/rose. All
